Membership Benefits
Note that all memberships expire on December 31, 2021 – so renew or get membership to enjoy maximum use of the year's benefits!
Organizational Membership: ($250 per year)
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 21 years old or older
  • Choreographer / Performer / Teacher
  • Organization/School/Dance company comprising of more than one teacher/performer/choreographer
BENEFITS:
  • Voting rights within IDEA, including the opportunity to assist and become a part of Artistic Board of Directors of IDEA.
  • Unlimited* access to IDEA’s umbrella insurance policy for facility rentals including auditorium, rehearsal space, classroom and studio – a benefit worth $580 per year.
  • Access to IDEA’s non-profit status to apply for grants and for reduced rental rates of theaters/auditoriums for your performances – a benefit worth, on average, $500-$1000.**
  • Benefits will extend to all the members of your organization including assistant teachers and adult students. For a given two-year period, only one point person/organization is eligible to serve on the board. General body meetings are open to all representatives of your organization.
  • All the members and students (15 years old or older) of your organization are qualified to be included into IDEA based productions/performances.
  • Organization listing within the IDEA membership directory, which serves as a prime resource for the location of best dance teachers/organizations in the DC metro area.
  • Participation opportunities in all of IDEA events including biennial IDEA Dance festival and learning series including workshops, lecture demonstrations etc, from artists and experts of all Indian classical dance styles, from all over the world.
  • Four free tickets to ticketed IDEA performances in the calendar year.
Individual Membership ($100 per year)
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 21 years old or older
  • Choreographer / Performer / Teacher NOT AFFILIATED with a dance school or organization.
  • Organization/School/Dance company comprising of more than one teacher/performer/choreographer
BENEFITS:

  • Access to IDEA’s non-profit status to apply for grants and for reduced rental rates of theaters/auditoriums for your performances – a benefit worth, on average, $500-$1000.**

  • Families of dance students (dance teacher must be an IDEA member)

  • Access* to IDEA’s umbrella insurance policy for facility rentals, once per year, for events such as Rangapravesham – a benefit worth $580 per year.
  • Access to IDEA’s non-profit status for reduced rental rates of theaters/auditoriums – a benefit worth, on average, $500-$1000.**.
  • Four free tickets to ticketed IDEA performances in the calendar year
Life Member ($1500)
QUALIFICATION: Non-dancers and patrons of the arts
BENEFITS:
  • Unlimited Access* to IDEA’s umbrella insurance policy for facility rentals, for events such as Rangapravesham – a benefit worth $580 per year.
  • Access to IDEA’s non-profit status for reduced rental rates of theaters/auditoriums – a benefit worth, on average, $500-$1000.**.
  • Four free tickets to ticketed IDEA performances in the calendar year
  • Special invitation to IDEA sponsored events.
* Assuming no conflict with IDEA events.
** Note that this benefit applies as long as the theater does not require IDEA to formally sponsor the event and serve as the signatory to the contract with the theater. Most theaters in the area allow such use.
